If someone was interested in an ad, he or she would reply through the postal mail. Hopefully the interested person would send a photo with a reply letter. Imagine how much longer it would take to actually make a connection if you had to mail letters back and forth through the postal service.

First, you have to sign up with the dating site. This usually requires a fee. Many times dating sites will tell you the service is free, but actually it requires a fee if you would like to be able to freely write back and forth with another person.
Once you sign up and pay the fee (fees vary from dating site to dating site), you can then post a your own profile. Most dating sites will ask you a series of questions and your replies are published as your profile. You can also add a photo or photos to your profile. Some dating sites even allow you to add audio and video.
After your profile is approved people can view it and write to you. Men are much less likely to receive e-mail from women because there are so many more men on dating sites than women. Men have to be the aggressor if they want to do well with online dating.
You can browse through the dating profiles and write the women you find interesting. It is important to be creative if you want to capture the attention of women because again, women get a lot more e-mail than men do.
Meeting someone from a dating site
It is important to use caution when meeting someone from the Internet. There are crazy people in the world, both on and off the Internet, but it is easier to pretend you are someone else when you are online. The Internet can sometimes give the perception of anonymity, but the truth is...that is not so.
You will find people lie offline as well as online. Pay attention to details. Does the person's profile match what the person tells you on the phone. Does the story change? Is the person unusually secretive? Look for discrepancies. You will find it is not very difficult to spot a fake if you watch for the signs.
