How to Approach a Woman

If you are at a bar or a party with your friends, it is likely that an attractive woman across the room will catch your eye. The tricky part is walking up that woman, getting her attention, and being handsome, charming, and witty enough that she will go home with you. Fortunately, picking someone up at the bar does not have to be as difficult as it seems. Here are a few tips that can help you out at that crucial moment.

When you approach a woman, the goal is usually to catch her attention, impress her, and walk away with her number. Or even better, go home with her on your arm. First impressions are very important, so as you walk up to her, make eye contact and try to look relaxed. Be sure to smile. You do not want the first thing out of your mouth to be a pick up line… we all know that those have a bad name. Instead, try saying “Hello” or “Hi” before introducing yourself. Instead of offering to buy her a drink right off the bat, talk to her for a minute and get a feel for the situation. If she is cold and does not seem like she wants anything to do with you, don’t waste your money. If she is smiling and answering your questions, help her warm up to you a little more by offering to put the next one on your tab.

Do not make the mistake of thinking you can impress her by talking yourself up. Bragging about how you just benched 240 at the gym, or bought a $30,000 car is not going to be impressive. It will turn her off and she will wish that you would leave. From a woman’s perspective, there is nothing worse than a guy who approaches you just to brag about how ripped his pecs are. An impressive man is one who knows how to treat a woman the way she would like to be treated. If you can show her that you are that man within the first five minutes of meeting her, you are doing pretty well.
