Which One Of These $53 Billion, Did You Contribute?
Hard to believe, but last year, men spent $53 Billion Dollars on clothing, which was 5% more (or, $2.52 Billion Dollars more) than the amount of money spent by men the year before that.
According to NPD, a marketing research group out of Port Washington, New York (in Long Island, just outside of New York City) "The surge in men's apparel sales came from some of the most unexpected places, such as young men buying suits. Teens and young adult men have finally "discovered the suit."
When exploring that further, NPD found that most of these young men never owned a suit, never wore a suit and never saw their father in a suit - yet, they have migrated towards dressing up to be "cool".
Sales of suits, suit separates and sports coats and jackets, grew 53 percent among men ages 18-24 alone.
Looking good, and specifically dressing "up" to look good, is something that is VERY important, especially when it comes to making a compelling first impression with a woman, or in your online dating photos.
